This week we remembered the great Earl Scruggs who passed away Wednesday morning at the age of 88. Earl was an innovator on the 5-string banjo and is solely responsible for the 3-finger style which became standard in bluegrass music. Earl Scruggs is an American legend. With his passing, the original Bluegrass Boys classic lineup of 1945-1947, which consisted of Bill Monroe, Lester Flatt, Earl Scruggs, Chubby Wise, and Cedric Rainwater have all passed on. I included plenty of Scruggs material on the show tonight, including the Earl Scruggs & Friends Radio Special from 2001. The rest was bluegrass material I had laid-out for the show prior to the news.
