Earlier in the week I had been watching closely the news regarding the health of Levon Helm.  I decided that I wanted to take some time and do a proper tribute to Levon who is one of my heroes, so I will do that next week.  I did steal some air time prior to my usual show and spun over an hour of Band and Levon material, and I also capped off the show with one of my favorite tracks from The Band.  Originally we had hoped to have Robert Sarazin Blake in for his second visit with us tonight, but the schedules didn't mesh.  Instead, listeners were treated to an encore broadcast of Robert's visit from last year in Henniker.  It was the first time for the New London area listeners however.  Live music will continue for what has been a crazy month next week with Murray & Falkenau from Ireland.

Here is tonight's show, starting off with a track for Earth Day:

Live music on the show tonight with a great set of songs from Boston area singer-songwriter Chris LaVancher.  Chris is a Mansfield, PA transplant now in Reading, MA, and has just released his debut CD of original songs called 'Roadside Attractions'.  Great songs from an up and coming songwriter.  Chris is definitely one to watch.  I wrapped up the show tonight with a couple set of sea songs, shipbuilding, and ship wreck tunes in memory of the loss of the Titanic, 100 years ago tomorrow.

Tonight I got to the remainder of the tracks I had originally laid out for last week, before shifting gears for Earl Scruggs.  Tonight I tossed in a set of baseball songs, a little something for the 'pink moon', and for whatever reason, a couple Georgia O'Keeffe tracks to wrap it up.  This is the last show for awhile without live guests.  Beginning next week, I will have live music in the studio every Friday for the rest of the month if all goes as planned.  Up and coming Massachusetts singer-songwriter Chris LaVancher will be my guest next week.
